I began this series in 2008 when Chinese brush painting no longer sang to me. In 2024, returning to painting birch trees, I discovered a small variety of textured papers that enhance the birch effect: chunky kozo, ginwashi, and lace monstera leaves. I continue exploring these papers, enjoying the challenge that each piece presents.
Creating artwork is about problem solving: each brush stroke presents yet another decision to make.
